About Me
My name is Chris Jeffery. I was born on April 15th 1993 and I currently live in Bexhill on the south coast of England. I suffer from a severe visual impairment but don’t let this get in the way of the things I love and I hope you can see this through my blog. The railways have been a big part of my life since the age of 13 and that’s why trains are the main focus of this website. I really enjoy travelling on trains as well as photographing them. I also think the train is a great place to see the world from and I love to travel to new and exciting places by rail.
I also love website development. Since my early teenage years I’ve made many websites ranging from Habbo fansites to websites with friends. All my web design skills have been self-taught using online resources and I’m always looking to learn new skills in this field to expand my knowledge. I’ve combined my internet skills with my love of the railways to create an organisation called The Youth Rail Enthusiasts Association for railway enthusiasts who are under the age of 26. Experience showed me this is a group often left out of events and competitions, and so The YREA first opened on May 2nd 2010 as a tiny website to offer this group something new. It has grown quickly ever since and though me and my team may have changed the website a few times, we still have the same mission at heart: To provide a place for young rail enthusiasts to be included. We provide help and advice to young rail fans about how to enjoy their hobby safely as well as holding our own competitions and events online and around the country exclusively for this age group.
I attended Filsham Valley School in St Leonards (now known as the St Leonards Academy) from September 2004 to July 2009 where I gained all of my GCSE qualifications which can be found by reading My CV. After this I started my two year A level courses in Business Studies, ICT and Photography at Bexhill College. In July 2011 I completed my A Level courses and was very pleased to receive C grades in all my subjects.
In the future I want to work within the railway industry because this is an area which I really enjoy. Because of my poor eye sight I am sadly excluded from working within safety critical roles and therefore I would like to work in the business side of the railways or in the customer relations department of a train operator. Because I don’t have much experience dealing with the public and because I’m very shy, I want to gain some work experience before starting work so I can start to look for a full time job when I feel more confident. I would like to be able to volunteer at a preserved railway to further improve my CV and improve my confidence with people.
