My CV
I am pleased to be able to share my CV with you online in the hope it tells you about more about me professionally. If you have any questions about the information in my CV, if you’d like a reference, or if you’d like a copy in Microsoft Word format, please contact me.
Personal Profile
I would like to have a career in the rail industry, ideally in a position where I could use my ICT and communication skills. I have been interested in trains since a very young age and they play a big part in my life. In the immediate future I would like to gain as much work experience as possible, to help me develop my knowledge of the railway industry and experience within a customer service position.
Skills and Abilities
Over a time I’ve built up a number of skills and abilities and I can use these well in a variety of situations. I have good communication and organisation skills as well as strong research and presentation ability. I have excellent knowledge of ICT and I’m experienced in many Microsoft applications. I have good literacy and numeracy skills and excellent timekeeping with the ability to work under pressure. In addition, I’m able to work well independently or as part of a team.
Education
I studied for my GCSE qualifications between September 2004 and June 2009 at Filsham Valley School in St Leonards (now known as the St Leonards Academy) and gained the following grades: B grades in Additional Science and English Language, as well as 4 Bs in ICT. C grades in Maths, Statistics, Graphics, media Studies, Science, Geography and French. I also gained a D grade in German, an E grade in English Literature, and a pass in the Junior Sports Leadership Award. I then studied at Bexhill College from September 2009 to June 2011 to complete my A levels in Business Studies, ICT and Photography. I gained C grades in all three subjects.
Work Experience
I spent a week working in a shop called The Trading Post in Hastings as part of my work experience placement during year 10 of secondary school. The week gave me a real insight into how shops are run, and my employer gave me an excellent report. My duties included operating the tills and serving customers, helping customers locate items in the shop, working in the stock room and un-packing products, pricing them, and arranging them on the shelves. I have worked as a Newspaper Distributor based at the Windmill Drive Post Office in Bexhill on Sea from July 2008 to December 2008. Delivering newspapers and magazines to people’s homes in my local area for 6 days a week gave me my first taste of work. I really enjoyed working for the shop, and built up a positive relationship with the owners.
Voluntary Work
I am the Manager and Founder at a voluntary group called The Youth Rail Enthusiasts Association. I started the YREA from scratch to run competitions and events for and give advice to young railway enthusiasts and along with my team we have built up a large member base since we first launched on May 2nd 2010. During our first 8 months of operation we got over 6,000,000 hits and 170 registered users, and we also got support from train operating companies who donated prizes to our Video Fest competition. We have also been featured in RAIL magazine. Running the YREA has given me great experience in supervising and working in a team, time management, marketing, web development and many more valuable skills which I will take through with me into future work whilst I plan to continue managing the YREA in my spare time.
Interests and Achievements
My main interest is the railways. I have been fascinated by them for years and I have become a rail enthusiast. I go out almost every weekend, filming the trains for my YouTube channel and photographing them, often meeting friends in London and other places around the UK. I also enjoy working with computers. An achievement I am very proud of is when I first got one of my photographs published. A picture I took of a train was published in issue 217 of the Railway Herald, an online magazine for railway enthusiasts.
